I'm a senior applying to colleges this fall, and my family's sole breadwinner lost their job of 30+ years on October 2nd. I would say that I am a qualified applicant, and I plan to apply to top schools as well as state flagships. I understand that top schools are very generous with financial aid, but I am also wondering if there are **any programs or scholarships** similar to QuestBridge that I could apply to as a current senior? Some additional context: 1) Very STEM-focused profile w/ 1590 SAT, multiple international-level distinctions. 2) Plan to dual major in CS / AI and Political Science if possible. 3) Family income was over $100k before the job loss 4) I qualified for National Merit Semis, so if worst comes to worst I can still attend local schools on full-ride. 5) No idea if/when the sole breadwinner will find another job. Worst case is they move abroad while I continue to study in the USA. I am a U.S. citizen. Also, for top colleges, will the fact that nobody in my family is employed impact admissions chances at all, whether that be positive or negative? Hi! I've been getting into 2d animation more and more recently and I love doing that. I have an issue though. Usually I draw realism / semi realism. I just think that stylization you see in most modern animations is not for me really. Like... I like rules and don't really like breaking them. For me there is only one anatomy, perspective etc. Sometimes I change some things to not only mimic reality, but thats it. I usually end up with something at least semi realistic and I like it. If other people like to stylize their drawings way more that do it, but its just not for me. When I am trying to stylize more it feels like going against myself and its not really enjoyable. But animation doesnt like details. And realistic art styles are full of them. Do you have any ideas how can I make some character animation when keeping realistic style? I am way more willing to change colors, shading etc. but certainly I dont like changing anatomy. Not like every muscle has to be marked. I just still want to keep it at least semi realistic.

Post that im completely free for 2 weeks until college resumes and honestly will just lose 2 hours a day on avg. My current progress Economics : all chapters except foreign exchange done, including LES. Corporate issuers: all chapters + LES Done. FSA: All chapters done, LES left for 3-4 chapters. Equity : Indexes left, everything else done with LES. Fixed Income: done with everything, only 2-3 LES chapters left. However not confident in chapters like convexity, forward rates etc. Derivatives: All chapters done, LES 70% done Not confident in pricing of interest rate forwards, binomial model. Alternative investments: All chapters done, LES done. Portfolio Management: Risk and Return part 2 left, rest all done with 1-2 LES left. Foodpanda genuinely has one of the shittiest refund policies I’ve ever come across. All I wanted was a sheermal for breakfast. I placed an order for 1x sheermal and had to add 2x mayo garlic rolls just to meet the minimum order and avoid the extra fees. Right after accepting the order, the restaurant informed me that the sheermal wasn’t available and refunded that ONE item. They then started preparing the rest of the order. Obviously, I didn’t want the rest anymore. The sheermal was literally the reason I placed the order in the first place. The other two items were only added to meet Foodpanda’s minimum order requirement. So I immediately tried contacting the restaurant. Turns out you can’t actually talk to them. You get an AI bot with a few useless fixed options like “change delivery instructions” or “change payment method.” No proper way to cancel or to explain the situation. So I updated the delivery instructions saying: if you don’t have the sheermal, please cancel the order. They cancelled it. And then I remembered why Foodpanda’s refund policy is absolute garbage. Order cancelled. Foodpanda keeps the entire payment. Zero refund. So let me get this straight: The restaurant couldn’t provide the item I actually ordered for. I tried to contact them immediately. Foodpanda gave me no proper way to communicate with them. I asked them to cancel because the main item was unavailable. They cancelled it. And somehow I lose all my money? What exactly was I supposed to do? Accept and pay for food I only added because Foodpanda itself forced me to meet a minimum order? Absolutely ridiculous. If a restaurant cannot fulfil the main item and the customer asks to cancel immediately, keeping 100% of the payment isn’t a “refund policy.” It feels like a penalty for a problem the customer didn’t cause. Foodpanda really needs to fix this nonsense.

Once a week, I go to my grandma’s attic to hang up the laundry. She lives literally just a few houses away from us. It might sound strange, but I loved that attic. First, you open a wooden door, then there are stone stairs, followed by wooden stairs, and then you’re upstairs. She apologized for falling asleep so early the night before, saying she hadn’t been feeling well. I asked her: “How early?” “Well, right after we finished watching Jeopardy!”

As the title says, I'm taking the 25mg Wegovy pill and am still nauseous. Ive been on the 25mg for almost 2 months now too. I'm not nauseous all the time. I thought it had gone away after starting the first month at 25mg. It then came back around the send month starting the next 25mg. I throw up occasionally too, but I'm nauseous almost every morning, usually within 30 minutes after taking the pill. It goes away a few hours later, but it is still not fun at all. I can also feel it burn/dissolve in my stomach which is uncomfortable. I'm a college student too so I either feel sick in class or get up early to feel sick before class and then I don't get as much sleep. I also can't seem to eat protein the way I used to. I used to love eating chicken and rice. Now I can't even eat half a chick breast without gagging. Most carbs based meals don't make me sick but I have insulin resistance so it isn't ideal. I know I'm supposed to be eating better than this, if just to fuel my body and give it the proper nutrients it needs, but I don't know how to do it without feeling ill. If anyone has any tips, specifically for the morning after-pill nausea, I'd love to hear it! Anything else would be helpful too. (Some info about me: I've been on the Wegovy pills for 6 months now, but the side affects have never been this bad. I had thought my body would be used to it by now too)

I've been meaning to get GK2, and though I enjoyed the first game for a time, the fact that you had to do dozens of things before getting a single thing around mid/late game made me just drop the game altogether. And now I'm wondering if the second game suffers from the same thing or if things are easier to keep track of now

From someone that has had a rollercoaster going between winning a lot of money to losing a lot of money, I finally made the decision to self exclude myself from both of my sports-books. The combination of unluckiness between bad beats on sports betting, unlucky results, fixed shit etc, I decided to stop for at least 6 months as it has become a mental restrain to my life and constantly impacting me as I spend most of my time staring at my phone chasing every result etc. Financially it has caused me to lose a lot of my savings and money I don’t really need but have set aside for emergencies, but never got to the point where I can’t afford my bills due to that betting tendency (thank god). I was just looking for inputs for people that either went through this temporary phase and how it helped them. I know this is probably not the best place to discuss this but I feel relieved being able to take this step and let it out somewhere.

I've been fluoxetine for it and am definitely improving. Its looking likely ill also be receiving a complex PTSD diagnosis as well. I was wondering what is likely to happen? How different may a mind become before we stop recognizing mind and begin calling our failure of recognition certainty? Humanity has made that mistake before. We have repeatedly confused unfamiliarity with emptiness. We treated animals as mechanisms because their pain did not speak our language. We treated entire peoples as lesser beings because power benefited from narrowing the definition of personhood. We reduced living ecosystems to inventory because trees did not enter courtrooms to defend themselves. Again and again, the circle of moral concern expanded only after those standing safely inside it were forced to confront what their definitions had excluded.
