Hello everyone, I'm a student with some programming experience and I'm generally comfortable with IT, but I don't have much experience with VPS or server hosting. I've built a web app with tools to help medical students study, which uses an LLM with a RAG system. For the RAG system, I'm currently using RAGFlow, an open-source engine that I'm hosting in a Docker container. This is running on a Google Cloud Platform VM instance with 2 vCPUs, 16GB of RAM, and a 200GB persistent disk. The server is working perfectly for my needs and I did not have any problems with hundreds of users per day. However, my GCP free trial is ending soon, and the regular price of €90/month is way too expensive for me to afford as a student. I'm now looking for a cheaper VPS provider. I've found a couple of options: Hostinger: KVM VPS with 16GB RAM for ~€20/month. informaten.com: KVM VPS with 16GB RAM for ~€12/month. I think I need a good amount of RAM because RAGFlow's vectorDB seems to need it to work properly. Here are my questions for the community: Is a KVM VPS suitable for my needs? Given that I'm hosting a RAG engine with a vector database, is a KVM VPS powerful enough, or do I need to look at a dedicated server? What about the control panel? GCP has a very intuitive control panel with a lot of features. Will providers like Hostinger and informaten.com offer a similar level of control? If it is close enough to GCP then I am good with it. What else should I consider? As someone new to server hosting, are there other important factors I should be taking into account when choosing a provider? Do I need a special server to host Docker? Or will any standard KVM VPS work for this? My only real requirement is to be able to host RAGFlow in a Docker container and access the RAGFlow API through a public IP address. Hi everyone! I (23F) was recently told by my rheumatologist that I have Sjogrens and put me on 200mg of HCQ. After a week or so of taking it, I passed out out of nowhere. Not sure if it was HCQ, or just dehydration but lmk if you've experienced this too. I took like a 1 week break and then tried again. For about a good 2 weeks I've experienced feeling light headed, nausea, hair loss, and some weird rashes on my thighs with no itch or pumps. I completed one month and I most of those symptoms have faded away and ive been trying to regain my strength. This is my first time ever hearing of Sjogrens and I'm kind of scared because I hear of complications people have with their organs and I just worry for my future. I've been in school for years to become a Speech language pathologist and Im worried that this will prevent me from enjoying my job and life. Anyone has any advice or tips about sjogrens and ways to find peace with it? I think im also just looking for a community to help me navigate this new diagnosis at an early age.

This is a more of a vent. And maybe a little bit of an ask-for-help post. I have been planning to change my name for a while. I hate my name as it is now. I've never felt like it fit me for a multitude of reasons. In recent years I decided I would wait until my maternal grandmother passed away to have it legally changed. It's not a family name, but my mother died about 7 years ago and grandma is just very sensitive now. I've told people in my life (not grandma or anyone that would tell grandma) that I planned to change it, but not what I wanted to change it to. I didn't want anyone to have the chance to talk me out of it. But I'm telling you all; I chose Margo. I like it. I think it fits me. Idk why I just...vibe with it in a certain way I guess. But an old coworker of mine just had a baby. And they named her Margo. Same spelling, without the "t" and everything. On the one hand, I haven't spoken to this coworker in probably 6 years, we're just facebook friends. On the other hand, my hometown is a very small community and I feel like if I changed it to the same name as his baby and he someday heard about it he would be weirded out. Even though I'm not copying their baby name, I had it picked out long before they were even expecting a baby. So, I guess, does anyone have an similar suggestions?

I am going to be playing my first DnD game (5th edition). The DM let the party make the characters early before game night. I decided to be a human fighter, given it was my first DnD game. However, I decide to add more originality to not make another cliche 'Human Fighter', and thus, make him Chaotic Neutral with the Noble background. His name is Harold. He is the duke of the far away city of Vermillion, and he disgraced his daughter when he learned she was dating a Tiefling, which led to her running away. He realized he treated her too harshly, and is now on a quest to find his heiress to bring her back. So far, so good. However, I make his age 34. When I showed him to the DM, he liked the character concept. However, he had one problem: how old was Harold's daughter if the Duke of Vermillion was 34? I looked him dead in the eyes and said, without stammering once, "I don't know, but she was a teenager when he was 20." The DM falls dead silent. I fall dead silent. We both stare at each other as the implications crawl into my head. Harold is now a 54 year old and she was born when he was 33. I thought writers being bad at math was a rare occurrence, until I learned it was cold, hard, fact. The game hasn't started yet, but I can already tell the DM will not let me live this moment down. tl;dr: Accidentally created cursed lore through bad calculations.
